The Truth About the Rubber Guard – Thanks Eddie!

I hadn’t realized until after watching this that so many people were on the fence about the legitimacy of Eddie Bravo’s techniques. While I don’t train out of the gi all that much I still personally like to use the rubber guard. It’s a technique that requires decent flexibility, but if you have it then you probably should give the rubber guard a try.

Also, it’s fair to say that Eddie’s techniques stray from the “standard” set of BJJ techniques, but isn’t that what it’s all about. Jiu-Jitsu today is a totally different game then it was 5, 10, 15, 20+ years ago. It’s now a worldwide sport being adapted to a plethora of fighting platforms. It’s reasonable to not use or even not like Eddie’s technique, but it’s it’s not reasonable not to respect what Bravo has created. So I say “Thanks Eddie!”
